Hyejin Jung

Hyejin Jung, D.M.A., is a Korean-born choral conductor whose work centers on contemporary repertoire shaped by ritual, spiritual depth, and the transformative power of sound. Based in California, she is committed to creating ensembles capable of engaging complex and expressive choral works across Korean and Western traditions.
She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Music from the University of Southern California, with academic study in theory and analysis, instrumental conducting, and critical studies in visual arts. Her research focused on the music of Younghi Pagh-Paan, examining themes of suffering, ritual, and eternal hope. A revised version of her dissertation will be published in Korean by Yesol Press in 2026.
Recognized for a rare balance of clarity and vitality in rehearsal, Jung has been described by colleagues as “musical, effortless, and energetic without tension.” She cultivates ensembles capable of growth, depth, and increasing artistic challenge.
She currently serves as Music Director of the Santa Ynez Valley Chorale and Choir Conductor of Miracle LA Church, and has worked with professional, collegiate, and community ensembles in the United States and Korea.
